Sixteen years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer and underwent intensive treatment. In the years that followed, I struggled with depression and PTSD. At times, I truly believed I would never fully recover.
My spiritual teacher suggested that I spend time with trees, caring for them, planting them, quietly creating a forest. I thought I was simply helping out. But what happened next took me by surprise.
The trees began to help me.
Every day, I watched as new leaves unfurled, flowers blossomed, and branches reached for the sky. Nature showed me, without words, that life continues. Slowly, quietly, the trees gave me the strength to do the same.
They gave me the courage to live again.
This 31 July, I am privileged to celebrate another year on this planet, a true miracle in itself, I want to give back to the trees and the land that gave me so much. I’m raising funds to support the Green Sakthi tree nursery in South India, which grows and donates fruit trees to local farmers.
Just CA$6 can plant a coconut tree, and this year, every donation will be kindly and impactfully matched by a Canadian supporter of Green Sakthi. This fundraiser is in Canadian $ and supported Canadians Sharing Locally and Globally Charity
Will you join me in planting hope? In creating and sustaining life for our planet?
